Event matchmaking: how to connect the right attendees and exhibitors

Matchmaking puts the right people in front of each other instead of hoping they cross paths in the aisles. Here is how organizers can run it without a big team or a complicated tool.

1. Why matchmaking beats walking the aisles

Large shows are too big to explore by chance. Attendees miss the exhibitors they came for, and exhibitors spend the day talking to people who will never buy. Matchmaking fixes both sides with a short list of people worth meeting.

2. Collect the few signals that matter

Good matches need very little data. Ask for it at registration so nobody has to fill in a second form:

  • Role: attendee, exhibitor or speaker.
  • Industry and company.
  • Three to five interests or products they care about.
  • Job title, so people know who they are meeting.

3. Turn matches into meetings

A suggestion is only useful if it becomes a conversation. Let people connect with one tap, chat to agree a time, and book a meeting with a location such as a booth number. Check for clashes so nobody is double-booked.

4. Protect privacy

Show names, roles and companies in the directory, but reveal email and phone only when both people accept the connection. Give everyone a way to block or report, and let people hide their profile entirely.

5. Measure the result

Count suggestions accepted, connections made and meetings held. Share the numbers with exhibitors: it shows the show delivered real conversations, not just footfall.

Frequently asked questions

What is event matchmaking?

Recommending specific people to meet at an event, based on what each person is looking for, and making it easy for them to connect and book a meeting.

How does LeadSnap Connect decide who to suggest?

It looks at shared interests, the same industry, and whether one person is an attendee and the other an exhibitor, and favours people with complete profiles.

Do attendees need to fill in a long form?

No. A few interests and a job title are enough to start. Data from your registration list is imported, so people only add what is missing.

Can attendees see why someone was suggested?

Yes. Each suggestion shows what you have in common, and an optional AI explanation suggests why to meet and how to open the conversation.
